Getting ready to install or upgrade your landscape? This introductory design class will show you how to landscape where you live. Learn what you can do to give your yard more curb appeal and reduce maintenance at the same time.

Now that you’ve had the introductory 101 course, it’s time to delve into more details of creating your own Utah-friendly landscape. Learn how to create a base map for your yard. Gain a better understanding of the central open shape concept, activity area and planting bed design, sprinkler systems, and more!

Fairy GardensJune 16, 10:00-11:00 am
Instructor: Sam Adams – McCoard’s Garden Center

Build your own fairy garden, and you just might get some little visitors. What better way to gain experience with plants than by creating and caring for your own little garden made just for fairies. This class will teach you how to make a small garden and some fun accessories for it. A demonstration container garden will be created right before your eyes. Adults and children are welcome to attend. Class will be held in the outdoor amphitheater.

Whether you’re new to Utah County or you’ve been here for most of your life, you likely have questions related to growing plants in this region. Now you have the opportunity to speak directly with the Utah County Extension agent! Come and get the answers to your questions, and learn from the questions of others. You are encouraged to submit your questions to casey@cuwcd.com prior to the session. On-the-spot questions will be welcomed as time permits.

Get the summer started with a memorable education experience! Children will have the opportunity to hear a fun story about growing vegetables, play a classification game, and plant their own vegetable seed to bring home and take care of. Geared towards children ages 5-11. A parent or guardian must accompany the children. Adults do not need a ticket to attend. Class is held in the outdoor amphitheater. 1 hour.


Flowers & SeedsJune 13th, 2018 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Where do plants come from? Follow the development of a seed into a plant in this story-like explanation. Children will get a close look at some flowers and seeds, play a flower and seed matching game, and get crafty by doing some flower stamping. Geared towards children ages 5-11. A parent or guardian must accompany the children. Adults do not need a ticket to attend. Class is held in the outdoor amphitheater. 1 hour.

Come for a safari story and craft activity in the gardens! Geared toward ages 3-8, but all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults do not need a ticket to attend. Class is held in the outdoor amphitheater. 1 hour.

Children will enjoy listening to a master storyteller, followed by a fun craft related to the stories. Geared toward ages 3-8, but all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Adults do not need a ticket to attend. Class is held in the outdoor amphitheater. 1 hour.

Superheroes Save Water July 11th, 2018 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Come dressed as a superhero and find the missing water! Learn about the important roles water plays in your life and what you can do to use it wisely. Be prepared to go on a hunt through the garden, to gather water conservation tips, and to make a superhero craft. Geared towards children ages 5-11. Dressing as a superhero is encouraged but not required. A parent or guardian must accompany the children. Adults do not need a ticket to attend. Class is held in the outdoor amphitheater. 1 hour.

There are a lot of cool bugs out there! In this class, children will get to see a variety of insects, learn about insect structure and function, gain an understanding of beneficial and harmful insects, and go on a bug hunt in the garden! Geared towards children ages 5-11. A parent or guardian must accompany the children. Adults do not need a ticket to attend. Class is held in the outdoor amphitheater. 1 hour.

Water can be found in many places, and it can take on various forms. In this class, children get to pretend they are water molecules and will move from the ocean to the clouds to the lake and will end up with a unique bracelet that follows the path they took.
